Launch Cornerstone Classroom app in Chrome and Firefox without connector

Prior to this release, users could launch Cornerstone Classroom App client in Chrome and Firefox browser only if their corresponding Cornerstone Classroom connectors were installed on the users' machines.

This release allows users to launch the Cornerstone Classroom App client in Chrome and Firefox browsers without installing their corresponding Cornerstone Classroom connectors.

Launching Cornerstone Classroom App in Chrome

Considering that the Cornerstone Classroom App is pre-installed, when you try to attend a Cornerstone Classroom event in the Chrome browser for the first time, and Express client is disabled, you see the following page with a dialog box that prompts you to launch the Cornerstone Classroom App to attend the event. Click Open Cornerstone Classroom to launch the Cornerstone Classroom App to join the event.

Launching Cornerstone Classroom App in Firefox

Considering that the Cornerstone Classroom App is pre-installed, when you try to attend a Cornerstone Classroom event in the Firefox browser for the first time, and Express client is disabled, you see the following page with a dialog box that prompts you to launch the Cornerstone Classroom App to attend the event. Click Open link to launch the Cornerstone Classroom App to join the event.

The Cornerstone Classroom app launcher is not displayed in the following scenarios:
  • If the browser connector is not installed and if Express client is enabled, then participants never see the launch prompt, irrespective of whether Cornerstone Classroom App is installed or not. They always launch the Express client.
  • If the browser connector is installed, the Cornerstone Classroom App is not installed, but the Express client is enabled, then participants launch the Express client while leaders/presenters see the Cornerstone Classroom App download page.
  • If the browser connector is installed, the Cornerstone Classroom App is not installed, and the Express client is disabled, then participants and leaders/presenters see the Cornerstone Classroom App download page.

Effect on Existing Users

Existing Cornerstone Classroom users, who have the respective Cornerstone Classroom connectors already installed for Chrome or Firefox browsers, will not see any changes in their Cornerstone Classroom app client launch behavior.
