Create event recordings

The Cornerstone Classroom Recording Studio allows you to edit native studio recordings, recordings of live events, and author new stand-alone recordings.

When creating a studio recording, you can import content (including agenda files), record audio, perform application share and web safari, whiteboard, and set payback properties.

Note: The Recording Studio cannot be used to record multi-user participant sessions.

When editing a recording, you can edit both content and audio, insert and delete index points, perform edit operations on segment selections in the timeline, and copy and paste content between two different recordings.

The Recording Studio has two different modes or interfaces: the Studio Timeline Editor (STE) and the Studio Recorder (SR).

The Studio Recorder (SR) allows content developers to create a new stand-alone recording or create a new clip to insert to an existing recording.

Switch between recording and editing modes

Recording Studio allows you to switch between the STE and SR modes as necessary:
  • When creating a recording in the SR, you can switch to the STE mode by clicking the Editor () icon in the toolbar.
  • When editing a recording in STE, you can switch to the SR mode by clicking the icon in the Timeline editor toolbar or selecting Record from the Edit menu.

Supported file formats

CCRF is the proprietary recording file format created in the Recording Studio. To support offline editing of recordings, the native recording is packaged inside the CCRZ archive. The CCRZ archive includes the native recording file and all agenda content. A CCRZ file can be published, played, and edited in Cornerstone Classroom.

In addition, you can export a recording to the WMV, WAV, or MP4 format. Recordings exported to WMV, WAV, or MP4 format can be played in a third-party media player.

You can also create an offline playback of the recording when publishing the recording to the CMS. An offline playback file (EXE) includes the native recording file (CCRF) and the offline player. Offline playback can be played in and outside of Cornerstone Classroom and edited in Cornerstone Classroom Recording Studio.
